We are glad to release new firmware_20160413. Firstly, Thanks for the patience of our users to wait about one moth. Depends on the efforts of Amlogic’s engineers, Vidon’s engineers and Tronsmart’s engineers, we are happy to announced we do the following things.

1.Updated the H.265 drivers fix no sound issue with video switching.
2.Fixed streaming issue video, 4K H.265 and HD H.264.
3.Fixed boot issue Tronsmart Opening logo.
4.Fixed random drop out of AC3/DTS on Vidon player.
5.Fixed FF/RW black screen when playing videos
6.Fixed the pink screen on some old TV(Add option: Setting->more setting->force RGB Output, choose on)
7.Add auto frame rate function.
8.Add logs catch function(Settings-->More setting-->Developer option-->Save log)

Please Note, In this firmware we include the newest vidon xbmc 15.2.3. So even with OTA update, your old kodi settings and adds-on should be reset. So we strongly recommend you back up your kodi adds-on before you do this update. Here is instruction for how to backup:

Cheerson CX-10D Review & Flying Test

CX-10D is the new product of Cheerson mini series and the upgraded version of CX-10. It is the first mini quadcopter that has altitude hold mode, one key landing & one key take-off. After receiving the sample, we reviewed the product. Let’s have a look.

Cheerson CX-10D appearance is very cool. It has 1S 3.7V 150mAh built-in lithium battery and its battery capacity is 50mah bigger than Cheerson CX-10. Accordingly, its flight time is nearly one minute more than CX-10. But unfortunately, CX-10D battery is also a built-in battery, which means it cannot be replaced and requires about 30 minutes waiting for a load cycle between flights. But comparing with other mini quadcopter, CX-10D has a nice flight time. Under the condition of fully charged, its flight time could reach up to 5 minutes.What’s worth mentioning, this nano rc quadcopoter has low-voltage alarming function. When battery is low, LED light will blink rapidly to remind us landing.

From the appearance point of view, these two transmitters have the same appearance. Except that CX-10D’s color is more vivid. As for function, CX-10D changes trimming key into one key to land and one key to fly, while CX-10 has no one key to land and one key to fly function.

Flight experience

1) Transmitter

CX-10D is equipped with a 2.4GHz transmitter which ensures the strong anti-jamming capability. Its max range could reach up to 25m. The transmitter is tiny enough to carry around, but it is also … a little too small. If you have large hands, it is not easy to use.

2) New features

One key to fly& One key to land

First you should turn the quadcopter on (the LED light will blink rapidly), then turn the transmitter on. Push the left throttle up, you will hear the beep sound and that means quacopter and transmitter match successfully.

Press the one key to fly button, the quadcopter will rising up to a certain height. Press the one key to land button, the quadcopter will land automatically.

Altitude Hold mode

The new “baroceptor” design ensures the quadcopter hold its altitude, which provides a huge convenience for beginners. Beginners just need to handle the direction stick. This mini quadcopter is the first mini quadcopter that has altitude hold mode. Although this function performs not that well compared with large drones, it’s still quite amazing considering its price and size.

The First Rockchip RK3399 can be used in VR SOC

Rock chip explain a different definition about their RK3229 chip and has highlighted the support for VR (virtual reality) all-in-one device. Here is what they had to say.

1 Rockchip RK3399 can decode 4K 360 degree Panoramic video directly and compatible with traditional 2D/3D content.

2 Lower than 20ms latency, specially optimize for VR headset. 20ms or lower latency has been approved by Gear VR, Oculus and HTC, other than that people will feel dizzy and uncomfortable.  Many users complain about the dizzy feeling when they use the cardboard style VR headset, reason is the smartphone SOC and VR headset has not been optimized for VR.

3 Screen refresh rate can reach 75Hz or higher, now all of the flagship smartphones can only reach 60Hz screen refresh rate, some others might have lower than that. Rock chip RK3399 can offer at least 75Hz screen refresh rate. The high refresh rate will give a better VR experience especially for VR games. For reference oculus rift and HTC Vive have 90Hz refresh rate, and Sony PS VR has 120Hz refresh rate.

4 Rockchip RK3399 can support 2K FHD screen.  The high resolution screen means less blurring, in our opinion 1080p is the minimum requirements for VR headset, 2K is defiantly better.

5 Rockchip RK3399 already has built in Anti Distortion, Pupillary Distance Algorithm. Previously if you wanted to make a good VR headset you should have optics and technology specialist, with the RK3399 the factory will focus on hardware they can make their own product easily, so we may see more and more all in one VR Headset very soon with RK3399.

6 Rockchip RK3399 support left/right split screen function with hardware and software. As we all know, for all in one VR headset split screen is an important technology and the Rockchip RK3399 can be designed to suit different screens automatically to make sure of the best quality VR experience.

7 Rockchip RK3399 support different gaming engines, including Unity. As we all know the GPU is much more important than CPU in VR headset, Rockchip RK3399 base is the powerful Mali-T860.
